We received an email from our friends, ‘Boris and Natasha” with regards to the “Jeep Wave”. There is Jeep etiquette with regards to waving to fellow jeep owners. We had no idea that there was wave protocol..so we have now started waving to all the fellow Jeep owners that we see..do they wave back??. NO!
They look at us like we are strange???..we have had one person do the Jeep Wave but that was before we knew about the proper etiquette??.. Maybe it is only the American Jeep owners that wave??..the Canadians seem to be a bit behind in their ‘waving’.
We will continue to ‘wave’ to our fellow jeep owners in the hopes that one day soon this ‘Jeep Wave’ will catch on..so for now we will look like ‘Jeeper Creepers’..so if you see us and you are a Jeep owner..please wave back!!
Boris and Natasha said that there is a warning with regards to the ‘jeep wave’:
Owning, registering, insuring and driving a Jeep implies knowledge of and intent to abide but the
following rules. Failure to obey the rules may result in your being ignored by other other Jeep
Owners as you sit along the side of road next to your stalled vehicle in a blizzard surrounded by
Saturns, Yugos and Hyundais. So get with it..if you not already it already..START
from one Wrangler owner to another..Please Wave!!..we don’t want to be known as the

Sunday Morning Romp at Mundy Park..this photo was taken mid walk..thank goodness there is a lake for a swim!! ..these photos were taken with Doug’s cell phone so the quality is not that great..you can’t see how the mud is imbedded into Tucker’s fur!!..ewwww
After the romp in the mud..breakfast on the sundeck..and the NORTHERN FLICKER sighting in the tree..housework and grocery shopping..we were off to the races..HORSE RACING THAT IS!!!!
This was our first time ever to Hastings Racecourse in Vancouver..the reason for spending the afternoon at the races??..Ron and Karen’s horse ‘Bobby’ was running in Race #7..”CLASSIC ALLEY KAT”..the new owners are Glenn Todd and Patrick Kinsella..Ron and Karen told us to see if we could find Mr. Todd, which we did..we said our ‘hellos’ and continued on with our ‘newbie excitement ‘ of gambling our small fortune on a few races.
Win..place or show....furlongs..wagers…claiming races..all ‘chinese’ to us??..like I said we are ‘newbies’…we placed our first wager of $10 on CRIMSON QUEEN…a Glenn Todd horse..we did the win, place or show..and we won $12!!!
We are on a ‘roll now”..next race was #6..our picks for this one were #5 PRIVATE INTENTION (another Glenn Todd horse)..and #8 ORCHID STORM (Ron and Karen’s neighbour’s horse..Pat and Wendell Clifton)
This race did not end well for our bets!!..we lost our $10…GEEZ!!!..and here we thought we were getting the ‘hang of it’
onto the flower pictures..and the Hat Girls..I think we missed the email on ‘dressing up’..we thought for a second we were at ‘Churchill Downs”
Hats ..suits and cigars seem to be the normal attire on a Sunday at Hastings Racecourse!!!
It was finally time for Race #7 and our favourite pick of the day…#4 CLASSIC ALLEY KAT..(AKA..BOBBY)..we bet it all on her to win..a whole $40!!!
CLASSIC ALLEY KAT WINS!!!..AND WE WON $108..NOT A BIG WIN BUT A WIN STILL THE SAME!!!
A great day!!!!

We headed into Langley this morning after dropping Tucker at his most favourite place..’doggy daycare’..we headed across the Port Mann Bridge..very slowly, I might add..accident..some very old man in a ford taurus, out for a Saturday drive..rear ends a Ford Expedition right on the bridge…geez!!!!
oh my gawd..we are moving again ..finally..
We took the turnoff for Langley..and what did we see but a Winnebago Journey..hurry up Freeway..so we can hook up!!!!
You are in the wrong lane!!!!..geez!!!!!!!!!!!!
Almost in Langley and what do we come across?..yet another accident..two within 30 kilometers..are there only idiots on the road today!!!
Next stop was Langley Jeep Chrysler and our free gift from our favourite radio station…JRFM…secret word was RAM
after our stop in Langley we left and headed east in search of Driediger Farms..and some fresh local strawberries!!!
We were going to do the U-pick but decided to just purchase a basket of strawberries and some raspberries..yummy!!
Once our purchase was done..and “Freeway'” smelled of the freshly picked berries..we headed towards home ..one more stop though on our Saturday adventure..Derby Reach and the Edgewater Bar Campground..we went for a stroll along the river ..nice and peaceful in the campground..the park was full of families enjoying the day.
