Porteau Cove Provincial Park

Our Sunday adventure was a trip to Porteau Cove Provincial Park..we packed a lunch..headed west towards Horseshoe Bay and then we headed north on the new and much improved Sea to Sky Highway..four lanes of winding roads along the Howe Sound..a beautiful drive..much better than the dreaded Highway 99 use to be before the Olympics...only one incident that brought out the flashing lights of a fire truck and ambulance...not too sure what happened but I had to take a picture anyway!!
Porteau translated from French to English means "water's gate"..this lovely park along the shores of Howe Sound offers a multitude of recreational activities..there is a rock  and pebble beach for ocean swimming, canoeing and kayaking and there is also excellent scuba diving opportunites.  The strong winds provide an excellent opportunity for wind surfing also.

Our 'Freeway'..looking mighty fine in his parking space while we had our lunch...we walked along the pier and admired the view and took plenty of photos...

Poor Tucker couldn't understand why he wasn't allowed to join the divers as they went in search of the buried treasures??

We had a great afternnoon..only about an hour from home..lunch by the water...and a stroll through the park..another perfect Sunday !!

  3. Sue and Doug: What a beautiful park. So far we have only visited 2 of your P. Parks and found them both to be amazing and large! We want to explore all of your provinces in greater depth in the future. So far only Nova Scotia have we been able to tour thoroughly. BC is the closest to our "home state" and we've seen a bit of it here and there. We really want to do much more. Thanks for the lovely photos today.
