kicking some tires!!

Since we are RV less for the next few years..our favourite thing to do is ‘kicking some tires'’..diesel, gas, gas pusher, 35 feet 38 feet 40 feet???..Winnebago..Itasca..holiday rambler…just to name a few...so many to choose from!!..

how can you decide??..one slide , two slides, big ass slide..opposing slides..cocktail tables..four door fridges..king beds?..queen beds?..fireplace..dishwasher..towing capacity..storage capacity..washer/dryer..satellite dish..power awnings..

look at this little beauty..born in 1966..its younger than me..just needs a maintenance day and she will be as good as new!!

My head may explode before this decision is made???..good thing we have lots of time to choose…we were given the advice to go and look at brand new…they will be the ones on the used market when we are ready…and much cheaper  than purchasing NEW!!!

we feel that this was some great advice…and we are gonna go with that and ‘kick some tires”

you know of course..this is all in good fun..since Winnebago has been around since 1966, this might be a good place to start..we could afford one of these old beauties!!

dog parenting skills???

Here I thought I was being a good ‘dog mom’ taking Tucker for walks..to the park to chase the ball…go swimming.

NOPE..BAD MOM..He needs a new one..do you know anyone who would like a
“houndsome golden retriever??”

If you are wondering what the different parts are in the dog paw photo above, here is the key:
A. claws
B. digital pads ("toes" - for bearing weight)
C. metacarpal pad (the largest pad)
D. dew claw (many dogs have these removed at an early age)
E. carpal pad (this provides additional traction when descending slopes

Tucker’s Part E..on both front legs..injured!!!..sliced open..don’t know how or when..like I said ‘bad MOM’..

it is still a learning curve..

This morning I sent an email to Rick “the blogger problem go to guy”..with regards to Picasa 3..I was having some issues with regards to using this new fan- dangled program with Live Writer….and I had some questions for our ‘blogger guy’..a lot of questions…

2010_07_21

My phone rang this afternoon and it was Rick on the other end…he figured rather than trying to explain in an email ..he would call me and see if we could get this to work for me!!..we spent more than half an hour on the phone ..him patiently explain the process  and answering my questions…the dumb blonde in Coquitlam has learned something new today!!!

2010_07_211

just wanted to  say thank you, Rick for taking the time and effort to help those of us in need!!!..now I am no longer the newbie with Picasa…I think I have it figured out..sort of..it is still a learning curve …but at least I can now use it !!!..I can even make collages!!..how is that for a beginner!!!..it is a work in progress.. :)

P.S…one year ago today Bigdawg and Freeway was born…this is post  number 201!!!..thanks to all my followers…keep reading and commenting and the writing will still happen..if you write it..they will read!!

enlightenment!!

This post is an enlightenment lesson..Dennis and Donna( cave dwellings)..made a comment yesterday with regards to an item I used in my dinner preparation..the item was “bocconcini cheese”..this cheese is a soft unripened cheese..italian cheese balls…so ends the suspense…

IMG_1860 IMG_1861

roma tomatoes

fresh basil

salt and pepper

olive oil

balsamic vinegar

IMG_1862 IMG_1863

slice the tomatoes..slice the cheese..place one piece on top a slice of tomato..add a piece of fresh basil..

IMG_1864 IMG_1865

at this point  ..you can cover the plate with saran wrap and put it in the fridge until you are ready to serve it..just before serving drizzle with balsamic vinegar and olive oil and salt and pepper….

IMG_1866

I don’t even like tomatoes and this is one of my favourite appetizers..thanks for the blog enlightenment, Donna!!!..this would go well with your happy hour..ENJOY!!

Assuming our positions…

When I was growing up, we..meaning me and my sister..it was our job on Saturdays to help my mom clean house..not our favourite thing to do ..but we suffered through it and got it done..so we could do what we wanted on Saturday afternoon..fast forward 35 some years and guess what?..it is housework day at our house!…I have no sister to help..no mom to help..my daughter moved out..hubby is at work..all I have are my ‘fur children’..will they help??..are you kidding me??..they have ‘assumed their positions”…

IMG_1850  IMG_1851

Tucker?..sleeping by the door..in the hopes that I hurry up and get things done so he can go to the park…Oliver?..deathly afraid of the vacuum..hence the reason he is in his crate..he just wants the jobs done..so he can come out again!..you know if you two would help it wouldn’t take so long….!!!

Out comes all the cleaning supplies…one for every job….IMG_1852 IMG_1853

IMG_1854

the fastest trigger in the west..just me and my windex…!!..the house is clean..well as clean as it can be with  two ‘hairy fur children’…..the fur balls grow over night..so they need to be kept under control…hence the necessity for the little yellow vacuum..

Now that Doug is back to work..it is now my job to make dinner..this is a working vacation..and a vacation for him..at least from doing the cooking..yes, ladies he does the cooking when we are both working..I am gonna have to get creative over the next few weeks…we can’t be eating or drinking the same old thing all the time…

Now what is for dinner tomorrow???..tonight we had burgers, coleslaw and tomato slices with bocconcini cheese and basil…

so my vacation..yes, it is until September 7th..is a working one..and Doug gets vacation from the work at home….don’t know who the lucky one is…but we have all assumed our positions for the summer of 2010…

The geo-caching newbies are back…three for three!!!

our first find was at Glen Park..it took us a while ..just a bit rusty..but we persevered and we had success!!..we wandered and wandered..but I had some luck!!..we are on a roll…at least one any way!1
