Heading up the mountain

Today we headed towards the Whistler Mountain Gondola..we had a two day pass…and I had my ‘fear of heights’…sweaty palms..armed with the camera I was determined to overcome my fear…one gondola at a time…first leg was the trip up to the top of Whistler mountain..a ride that took 25 minutes…I can do this!!

Melanie has overcome her fear of heights and is enjoying my torture!!..the pictures don’t do the trip justice.the glass on the gondola is so scratched and dirty that is was difficult to get a clear photo..maybe at the top..once my hands are dry again!!

Can you tell I was stalling for the next leg of this trip..one more picture..no wait I have to go to the bathroom…!!!

The Peak to Peak experience is a 4.4 kilometres  long and 436 meters above the valley floor..the Gondola is an engineering marvel that connects the incredible high alpine of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains..

Hanging on for dear life…what does not kill you makes you stronger…

Back on solid ground..over 6000 feet above sea level…on Blackcomb Mountain now…

next fear to be conquered…the open chair lift ….down to the village…NOPE..not today…can’t do it…we took the Peak to Peak back to Whistler Mountain and then the gondola back down…photos taken…view admired…so worth the nervous stomach and sweaty palms…

one peach bellini …on the patio at Earls..so happy to be back !!!

Our original plan was to have dinner at Monk’s Grill..located in the upper village..Melanie had a coupon..buy one get one free..great deal..so we ventured over to the ‘ghost town’…

..like I said a ghost town…our restaurant choice.??..closed tighter than a drum..what the heck??..now what are we going to have for dinner..we weren’t the only ones with a coupon in hand and our faces pressed up against the glass..??

there was one lonely shop open in the whole upper village…this lovely hat shop…not a shop that PETA would like but we had some laughs anyway…

so as we said long to our new ‘friend’ in the hat shop…we went on a search of a new choice for  dinner..???

so as this second day comes to a close…tomorrow??..bring on the ‘chair lift”…I can do it!!!!
