lesson learned….

In my previous post I mentioned about a situation I had with a potential buyer for an item I had for sale on Craig’s List…

We have sold many items on this free website and have actually had no real problems to speak of..except for one nasty phone call from a lady who wanted some dishes that I had already sold…that was until the incident this past weekend…

There have been no more emails from our disgruntled purchaser so that is a good thing…we have learned a lesson from this incident though…

We will continue to use Craig’s List but from now on my advertisements will now say …… FIRST COME FIRST SERVE…if you want it?..please come and pick it up!

There are no guarantees in life….if you don’t get here first….someone may beat you to it!!

  1. Good plan! That should put an end to any ridiculous demands about not getting something.

  2. Looks like you have solved the problem for future listings. Some people are just born crabby.

  3. Not sure why, but we have never got into buying or selling anything via Craigslist, Ebay, etc. But then again we don't do garage sales either. We had a garage sale once & I just hated sitting there with people coming up determined to 'beat me into submission' by demanding I drop the price of a dollar item to .50 cents. Guess I'm just not a buyer/seller person. Your antagonist on Craigslist reminded me of that...........

  4. This post brings back memories of when we put our things up for sale on Kijiji and Craigslist. Without getting into all of the "adventures" we experienced let's just say that some people are just plain rude and inconsiderate. We had many wasted days sitting around and waiting for people to show up to purchase an item. We had people show up and try and haggle us on the (already reasonable) price. It was an experience that I never want to have to go through again! lol

Glad to hear the nasty emails stopped. First come first serve is a good plan for future postings. I hope you don't have to deal with any more ignorant Craigslist junkies. =0)

  5. I just sold a hair dryer on Craig's List...my first experience and had no problems...Some people are just rude, no matter where you run into them....I would use Craig's list again, though....

  6. I am so similar to the Bayfield Bunch...I just can't be bothered with the hassle and the last thing I want is strangers coming to my house to rifle through my stuff. I have a much simpler solution with items I no longer need or use, I pack them up and give them to the Salvation Army.

  7. Sounds like you have it all figured out for next time. I agree with the other comments, some people are just rude, no matter what you do for them, they are not grateful. Stay safe.

  8. Good lesson learned. It's hard to understand some people. :)

  9. Have used Craigslist to buy and sell many, many items with no problems but have recently noticed a marked increase in the number of scammers--"for sale, 2008 SUV, for $4000" Now, come on, do all scammers think the rest of us are stupid--I flag all those ads when I see them. Good luck selling!
