A sunny Saturday was ours to do with what we wanted…’freeway’ was going ‘four wheeling’..heading east on the #1 Highway..we drove towards Chilliwack..

and continued another 42 kilometres to exit #153..

Jones Lake is in the Skagit Range of the Cascade Mountains and it offers spectacular views of the glacier if the skies are clear…were we going to have clear skies?..didn’t look too promising as we headed inland…

It is a steep gravel logging road for about 9 kilometres…it has steep rough sections, designed for 4x4 vehicles with high was ‘chicken bar’ time..

we drove through a couple of the campgrounds..diehard campers..roughing it..mostly tents and truck campers…we did see one travel trailer and a tent trailer..this road is not conducive to ‘big rigs’…

We found the picnic area…a perfect spot for a picnic lunch..egg sandwiches on fresh baked bread… and Tucker could have a swim..everyone was happy!!!..especially the ‘four legged boy’

as we drove away from this picturesque spot ..we said ‘we will be back’ time armed with firewood, roasting sticks and wieners and marshmallows..maybe in the fall..when the leaves are changing colour??..

IMG_3419as we are heading home i  was thinking of how many times we have driven this highway?… too many times to  count….today we crossed one place off our list of ‘must stops’…we will return because  there are many more stops along this route that we have yet to see…..another day..another adventure!IMG_3420

  1. Beautiful pics on beautiful day. Tucker looked like he really enjoyed that swim. Your very last pic was awesome. I love those white clouds in cool!

  2. Lots of great photos tonight. I'd never even heard of Jones Lake let alone visit it. I think I'll have to add it to my list of places to visit in B.C. - it's growing fast!

  3. What a great trip to take in your Jeep. I'm envious of your 4-wheel adventures. We have a 4-wheel drive Honda CRV, but it's not made for adventure like your Jeep is!

  4. Looked like a mighty fine Jeeping day with a bunch of great scenery thrown in to boot:))

  5. Great pics, you guys have a lot of neat scenery out there, I wonder if my 2500hd duramax is high enough for those roads.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  6. Can I just live in a beautiful area...I loved your photos...and Tucker is so handsome!...Definitely take your marshmallows and roasting stix next time...and post more pictures for us lackluster Midwesterners!

  7. And that area is within a short drive of where you live? Wow, I think I'd go there often! Your pictures depict great scenes. :)

  8. Breathtaking scenery! Thank you for sharing your adventure with us!

  9. For some strange reason I have been unable to leave comments or I have to try and post them several times. Hope this gets to you.

Loved all the pictures today. I can't wait to take a trip to Canada. Thanks for sharing while we are still down here.
