and so ends the year 2010

as another year of blogging comes to an end…I sit here and ponder the events of this past year…searching back through my posts ..I look for the highlights….some are lowlights depending on how you look at it…

January 2010..we had some flood damage repaired…

February 2010..the Vancouver 2010 Olympics…

…and our daughter moved out on her own…and her old room is transformed..

March 2010…. our friends, Gordon and Juanita lost their beloved beagle, the BO-DIE…as we called him!!

we worked on packing up ‘Freeway’ and getting ready for the camping season…

April 2010…new camera was a  gift from our daughter..thanks to her big casino winnings!!!

and another trip in the trailer..little did we know that this would be our last one..

May 2010…not our finest month..we had to make some decisions that had repercussions..

we sold our truck and trailer..and bought the jeep…one step towards our dream of full-time rv living..

also this month we made a short trip to Birch Bay and we met up with fellow bloggers…Donna and Ralph..and Chris and was a great meet up..a bright spot in a  month that was not our best..( I apologize for not having this in my first post was a great hi-light!..and we are so happy that we got to meet these fine folks..)

June 2010..still a difficult month..trying to find ourselves and figure out what we are going to do without a trailer? was a hard time for both of us…me more than Doug…

so what did we do??..we went to the horse races!!..

July 2010…Oregon Coast trip..Lincoln City…but first we met Steven and Linda at their home in Samammish, Washington…

on the way home..we met Bruce and margie.that of course was a very special day!..we treasure the time we spent with them…

August 2010…a trip to Nelson, British Columbia to visit my friend, Brenda…via Keremeos..and the hunt for the ever elusive… perfect hay bale..still looking…maybe next year…

and then there was the two  trips to Whistler…and conquering the fear of heights…

September 2010…trying out the four wheel drive…

October 2010…

the passing of Bruce and margie…changed blogging for everyone…I still miss them…the pain lessens but the memory of what happened is still there…gone but not forgotten…rest in peace dear friends…blogville will never be the same…IMG_4005_thumb[1]

We also went to Anacortes, Washington and met up with Gordon and Juanita…like coming home again…friends forever…

November 2010..

my least favourite month..dark and dreary…and rainy!!

we did find a great dog beach though…after all it is all about the ‘Tuckmeister’

December 2010…the awards dinner at Hastings Race Track was a big highlight this month…IMG_4387

and then there was Christmas 2010…

so there you have the hi’s and low’s of 2010..onward to 2011…

My husband, Doug…he has been my best friend since 1979… and the driver behind the blog worthy days and my constant companion on the days that were not ….

if it weren’t for him there wouldn’t be a ‘BIGDAWG AND FREEWAY’….he puts up with me..and my desire to find a blog worthy subject… with camera in hand as we drive along the highways….(the best brakes in the west)..stopping at every picture taking opportunity along the way…even before I ask him to stop…and he never complained  about it..and for that I am most thankful…

Happy New year everyone! we wish you health and happiness in 2011…keep on blogging!!..thanks for reading along as we head towards making our dream a reality!!

  1. Very nice! I enjoyed the picturesque trip through the year. I was thinking of Bruce and Margie this morning as well, and how much I still miss reading their blog every day.

  2. Sue and Doug, Happy New Year! Your post was very well done; I enjoyed reading about your life this past year.

  3. The challenges we face along the way help us appreciate what we have all the more. May 2011 bring you all that your heart desires, and that you live each day in health and happiness.

  4. Now pick up that Canon and start another year of great blog's and pictures, We love our sx201 also.Know what you mean about it being all about the Tuckmiester, Rigg's rules the roost here and lives for a splash like Tucker does. We have to think about getting him fixed, although he is pretty much sequestered away from any loose women here at the Weeb Ranch we have decided not to take any chances and since we will be traveling soon, (hope, hope) We decided studding him out is not in our or his future. (Sorry Rigg's). So since I have been guaranteed his voice won't change the deed will be done soon. Fitting the cost into the budget is all that's left. be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  5. Great reflective post on the year 2010. Nicely done with words & pictures. All the best for 2011 & keep up the good work:))
