A collection of Hardware!

 

Tonight was the ‘Thoroughbred Industry Awards’ at Hastings Race Track…

Time to get all ‘gussied up’ and head downtown to the ‘track’….Ron and Karen ( Doug’s brother and his wife)  came from Keremeos for this special event..nominated in six categories..for their horses…Victory with Class and Classic Ally Kat…

they ‘clean up’ pretty well for  a couple from a small town in the Simillkimeen Valley…

Ron, Karen and Richard Hamel..the leading jockey  at 41 years of age and 83 wins for 2010..Richard was honoured a the gala event..surpassing 1000 victories in his career….one of them being riding ‘Victory with Class’ at the BC Derby Race in August.

David Dahl…the winner of the Diamond Award of Excellence…David was injured in an accident at the track in July…when a race horse ran straight into the winner’s circle..IMG_4421

the next award was for ‘the Champion Broodmare’ for 2010 ‘Classadalla’..this would be ‘Jazz and Bobby’s mom’

..next award was for 2 year old Fillies…BC Bred and Open..and the winner was victory with Class….

during the speech…Doug Clyde the owner of Victory with Class..said that he was so happy that ‘Ron told  Karen to  sell that  horse’.….what a sweet sell it was!!!IMG_4439

a successful evening..a huge load of ‘hardware’ heading back to Keremeos!!..thanks for a great evening..and letting us share in all the excitement!

  1. WOW!! Loved your photos, and what an exciting evening that was! Congrats to Ron and Karen for those beautiful trophies...Hey, you and Doug clean up darn nice too!!! We went to Hot Spring ARkansas once and watched the thoroughbreds run..What a thrill!!!

    Nice to see them rewarded for all the hard work. Looked to be a nice event.
