46 years ago today my brother was born…Happy Birthday Michael..hope you have many more birthdays to celebrate!…

IMG_5664

that is me on the right and my older sister, Sabine on the left and of course, Michael in the middle…he was about 2 years old in this photo..weren’t we cute??…and darn were those dresses ever itchy!!..they were light blue with brown striped fabric on the bodice....my mom made them…she was quite the seamstress..

The significance of this day, other than my brother’s birthday?..well..thinking back this is how far back I can remember…

I know that my sister and I were staying at the neighbours and we were told that we had a new brother…

Do I remember anything before that?..nope!..so to think that I was almost six years old..and I remember nothing of my childhood  before this day…How far back do you remember??..

  1. I can remember back to when I was 4 years old. My brother is 18 months older than me and I used to wait by the front window for him to come home from school. I can still visualize it and I am 71 1/2 yrs old now. Now if I could just remember what I had for lunch today I would would be doing great.

  2. Happy birthday to your brother; mine was yesterday ... but I have a few years on him. My earliest clear recollection ... the year was 1963, I was playing with my doll, Voice of America was on the radio, and my mother was crying. They had just announced that JFK had been assassinated. I was 5. There are earlier memories, but they're not as clear.

  3. I too have a brother six years younger and I clearly remember the day he came home from the hospital with Mom and Dad. Not sure I remember anything before that.

  6. I remember being left at my Aunt's house when I was very little. Probably about 2 years old. My Mom was astonished when I told her about it. She said, I never told you about that, how can you possibly remember it? I think someone had died and they attended the funeral without me or something like that. Today, CRS... :)

  7. Best I can remember is our 1952 Chevy...brand spanking new..Dad always loved a nice new car. I remember riding with Dad on his milk route to Cicero..He was a wholesale milkman and left about 3AM to deliver milk to the grocery stores(in big glass gallons!)...I was about 4..So you see, I AM the milkman's daughter...literally.

  8. Well, I can remember as far back as your wedding and how dapper young Michael looked in his shirt, tie and sports coat!

  9. I can remember sitting beside a specific car, and on the ground. My mother tells me that I was just over a year. I even remember it being warm and summer-ish and see said that was right. I could also describe the car! HB to your brother. Your header pictures are great, Sue.

  12. That's funny - I often think about the fact that the earliest I can remember is when my sister was born. I was only three though, but I guess it must have been pretty traumatic!

  13. Happy birthday to the boy in the middle! I believe my first real memory was my 4th birthday, when my uncle gave me a Shetland pony. That would be hard to forget.

  14. What a cute photo of you and your siblings.

One of my earliest memories is of going "downtown" to shop in San Bernardino, CA. I was about 3 or 4 and got too tired to walk. My Daddy put me up on his shoulders and let me have a ride instead.
