I solemnly swear…

We only have a few more days before we head south to the Oregon Coast..we have been going there for the past few summers…it is one of our favourite places….

the views are amazing..and there are so many picture taking opportunities….

I was reading my posts from last July..and I am publicly apologizing to my darling husband…I cannot believe how much driving he did in those four days..and how many stops we made along the way…

IMG_1428

we stopped at every lighthouse we could find along the coastline..

Doug drove the coast every day just for me..with a smile on his face..never complaining….’can we stop here?..more pictures…it was all about the scenery….and seeing everything we could…

and the blog posts that would be created when we got back to the hotel…

so where is this going??..well after reading  the posts from this trip to Lincoln City  last year…I have come to the conclusion that we need to stop and relax this time round…grab our chairs..sit at the beach or at the rv park..and breathe!

So I solemnly swear that I will let my darling husband do just that!…not to worry we will be going places but just not every day…there will be days when we will ‘stop’…read a book..listen to music…walk the dog..just enjoy life..isn’t that what a vacation is for??

  1. Sure sounds like a really good plan! Take it as it comes....do as much or as little as you wish....and take it all in. Sounds like fun.

Well, I'm still that way. The relaxing do nothing days are great just as long as there are not too many of them all in a row. RVing has always been about beautiful scenery to me whether driving through it, hiking through it or just plain sitting in it. Enjoy your trip through nature shortly:))

  6. We prefer the get up and go and see and do days of our vacations - especially when we're not traveling with our motorhome - but as our ages creep up, we're adding more sit still and relax days. Too many of the latter in a row, however, drives us batty :-))) Have fun in Oregon.

  8. You may be surprised to see what little gem might just be around the corner when you are walking the dog. We sometimes miss things in our own little neighbourhood.

Enjoy your trip, the coast looks beautiful

  12. We do the same thing... and the Oregon coast is so beautiful. It is one of my favorite places too. I think we hit every lighthouse up the coast last year too. Also in Washington!!! But is is good to take a day or more to relax and enjoy the areas we visit! I am very guilty of packing to much siteseeing into a trip too!!!

  13. Our first year of full timing was go, go, go, go. The second year we did slow down a little bit but still it was go, go. This year I am really learning to let Jim "rest" sometimes. But I'm like Al - I want to go and see and do and experience. I need to learn to enjoy the rest times.

  14. Sightseeing is the major part of our travels, but just sitting and relaxing is great too!

  15. I think it can be a challenge to get the right mix of going and resting. :)

  16. Good thinking! It can be too easy to get in and stay in the vaction travel mode.

I'm sure you'll have just as much fun sitting, chillin' and enjoying the getaway.

  17. Any other time we would pop over to the coast to say "hi", but instead, we are passing ships in the RVs as we are heading north toward BC in a week, via HWY 97 on the east side. Love your photos of our home state and looking forward to seeing more.

  19. I sometimes dream of hearing Paulette say "o.k., this trip no more stopping at Quilt stores along the way"!

    Ain't gonna happen though!!

  20. My sweet husband did the same thing when we drove the California coast. (Not so sure he smiled the whole time though at every request for a photo opp) Your photos are like postcards and your words breathe life into each one.

  25. Love Oregon! After reading the addictions post... I hope you manage to get some rest and relaxation...blogging does provide that for me though as I usual blog when the girls are asleep and the rest of the day I am chasing them around! I NEED to capture it all on camera too, makes the memories more real or something. Since you've already been there done that perhaps you'll have a little less...have to must do's. Wishing you luck but still wanting to see the blog posts as you go along :)
