The power of words…

“If someone were to pay you 10 cents for every kind word you ever spoke and collect from you 5 cents for every unkind word, would you be rich or poor?”

Some words make you feel good while others can ‘cut to the quick’..

Blogging has brought out a side of me that I did not know even existed..some traits are good and some not so good..

Once a post is complete..oh sure it can be deleted or ‘tweaked’ if you don’t quite like how it sounds…

Writing a blog puts your life out  there in the land of technology for all   to read… It can be a  slippery slope..and it is a chance you take…

You may get some who feel that they can say whatever they want… which is fine..we all cannot agree…

I have been pushed down the slippery slope a few times..the constructive criticism can be very helpful to make me realize what is truly important…

So for me it is time for a re-evaluation of this blog…

I have come to the conclusion that the blogging stats are not important..

Never mind how many followers, posts or comments..none of that is of any importance…

Even if no one read or commented I would still blog..

This is my virtual scrapbook…a memory book on line..lightweight and easy to pack when the time comes…

I am going to expand my creative writing skills   all the while  living  our lives…

So for 2012 and beyond…living my life is the most important thing …

I have given myself a good talking too and for once I am going to listen..

Time to expand my horizons..pick up a new  hobby or maybe an old one…

Not to worry Bigdawg and Freeway will still be alive and well…but just in a different way…

  3. I'll be interested to see the direction your blog takes. Mine still remain as mostly travelogues and scrapbooks for us ... I started them as such, and will continue that path.

  9. EXCELLENT blog...so good that my blog today is going to send folks here to read it. You put some of my thoughts into words and I thank you.

  10. Sue, I agree with your thoughts on blogging about life itself. That is what Gerri & I started after Christmas. Life is about living in the present and building the future...wherever that leads.
I enjoyed your post and thoughts, I just didn't put ours into words.
Thanks and you and Doug have a great weekend!

  11. You have my deep admiration for being able to put yourself out to the world in such an open manner, and to be able to do it so articulate.

To you and all bloggers I tip my hat..

  13. Well Sue, sounds like you have been struck by Bloglands Mr. 'Sourgrapes Anonymous' again. Good for you in stepping on his Ego:))

  15. Good thoughts. I think most of this stated the "blog" as a kind of journal. I still see it that way, but find it has changed as I get more involved with the blogland process.

I look forward to your new "look":)

  22. Words can hurt I know but you should never allow the words of anyone dictate how you live or feel. We only have one life. Do what is right for you and you can't go wrong! ;-)

  23. Blogs, to me it is the equivalent of a high tech mirror, displaying the internal thoughts and description of the blogger. Something I can go back and and review as memory of days past fade and other people comments might even help me understand myself better.I enjoy reading blogs because I get to know people in a way that no physical meeting does.

  24. So very well said, Sue.... I love that a blog allows us to document our own memories. It is flattering, to me, when someone comments positively on something that I feel is a post about nothing but my own memory, or my own daily experience - but you are so right, the point of the blog is to document my own little scrapbook of my experiences. :)

  25. That seems like the right attitude to me! My blog has evolved - first it was about yoga, then it was about writing, and now we are heading out on RV adventure, so it will be about writing while on the road. I don't know if my writer followers will be interested - some seem very excited. But I want to blog about what I want to blog about. So, good for you!

  26. Good attitude! It is your blog to write as you please. Write on!

  27. What a great revelation... I agree with you about blogging being your virtual scrapbook. It's always great to have an outlet regardless of the followers, comments, etc. If it is good for you as a person, then it's the right thing! I'm looking forward to seeing your new and improved blog for 2012!

P.S. I'm starting a new hobby for the new year as well... breakdancing! I'd love to hear all about your new hobby once you pick one :) Keep us updated!

  28. So well said. Sometimes I struggle with the blogging but I know I won't remember all the places we've been or things we've done if I don't write it down. But all in all we have to blog for ourselves not for others or it will become drudgery. Will be fun to see where you go with this. :)
