There is no place like….

HOME…what does it mean to you?

Click your ‘ruby red’ heels together..

Ruby Red Slippers

and magically, you are transported to a place known as ‘HOME’

‘Home is the place that goes where you go, yet it welcomes you upon your return.

Like a dog overjoyed at the door. We've missed you is what you hear, no matter how long you've been gone.’

MICHAEL J. ROSEN

To me, home is a place we go at the end of a long day..

Somewhere to let the trials and tribulations of working be left on the other side of the door…

the wagging tail of the dog greets us..no matter how long we have been gone…

the kitty?..well, he is a cat..need I say more..

The four walls that keep us safe from  the weather are the sanctuary that keeps us warm and dry..

  • A place to cook our meals

  • put our feet up on the coffee table

IMG_7927

  • wear our comfy cozy ‘happy pants’

IMG_7928

  • and rest our weary heads at the end of a long day

Home is a place to welcome family and friends..

there may be..

  • laundry to do..
  • dishes to wash
  • floors to vacuum
  • and toilets to clean..

but it is home still the same..

newspapers on the table..bills on the counter..dust bunnies and dog toys abound..

..no matter where you live.. or hang your hat.. or lay your head at night..

Be it in a big mansion on the hill..

a small bungalow in the suburbs..

a condo in the city..

or even in your ‘dream RV’..

..and may the road you travel always lead you there…

..and may there always be somewhere there to say..’Welcome home! I have missed you’

  2. Very lovely post on the meaning of "home"....

We don't have a dog, as you know, but our cats do come to the door to greet us when we get home. They know who the treat dispenser is! LOL

  6. "Home Sweet Home on Wheels"
"When you're a thousand miles from nowhere, it's nice to know you're only a step away from home."

A friend quilted a panel for me that expresses this sentiment. It hangs in my bedroom and I see it every morning as I awake. That's home for me.

  10. Very nicely stated! Don't forget for full-time RVers -- home is where you park it! And even so, all the rest of it still applies.
