Sadness

Life is short and I have always known that. But some days it just hits a bit to close to home and the sadness overcomes you.

We just were told last night that  a neighbour, a lovely gentleman passed away. He was maybe 5-6 years older than us. So sad to think that such a fine upstanding person has his life snatched away from him.

He leaves behind a wife, and grown children and grandchildren, and a boxer named Molly. Rest in peace P.

This past week there was a news item  with regards a two year old German Shepard left for dead  in a dumpster.

He was beaten and  thrown away like household trash! Such a short life for  ‘man’s best friend’, Should there not be rules and regulations for owning pets?

This poor dog suffered at the hands of his owner. Maybe the owner should be beaten with a chain and left in a dumpster? Or maybe ‘strung up’ by his ‘man parts’,

Rest in peace Captain. Life will be better at Rainbow Bridge.

Tears are flowing today.

  1. Hugs to you Sue. Glad Doug has started his vacation time. Hope you're packing things up and getting ready to head out in that orange thing. I'm sure Tucker will look forward to swimming in many new places! Take plenty of towels...got a feeling you will need them!

  2. Sorry to read this. It takes a while to get past the sadness, but it does pass.
Can't speak to the way some folks treat their animals. I prefer not to put those kinds of words in print.
    Try to enjoy your weekend.

  3. Oh Sue, Sorry about your friend passing.
I just saw on the news that that poor dog had died,I hope there is a special place reserved in hell for the sob that hurt him.
Give Tucker a hug, and think of the dog whose owner back to get him from the boat.

  4. It always seems so wrong when a good man dies and an evil one lives on. One thing about life I do know. It is short and it is "NOT FAIR." Treasure your days and your husband.

  5. The end of life is always sad; even more so when it is unexpected or is at the hands of someone else.

  6. Isn't that disgusting. How can people treat an animal that all they want to do is to love you like that? They should receive the same treatment back. I would love to get my hands on them, makes me mad just writing this.
So sorry about your friend, life is hard to understand sometimes, you just shake your head and wonder 'Why'?

  7. I have been absolutely outraged since I first heard the story about Captain. I would love to get my hands on the person responsible and make him suffer, very slow and very painfully!! People who harm animals have no place on this earth!

So sorry to hear of your neighbour's passing. Losing someone is never easy at any time. :(

  12. So sorry, Sue. Seems a sad day in the US as well with people doing crazy things to people. No sense in the world at all. Do you read "Find and Outlet?" In the midst of the craziness and animal cruelty, there are some encouraging stories to uplift our spirits.

  13. This is truly a sad sad day. Friends dying, animals being beaten and dying, young people killing other young people. Many tears being shed.

  14. I'm very sorry for the loss of your neighbor. Merikay is right. "Treasure your days with your husband."

Life can change forever in a split second. How unfair it was that monsters such as the terrorists live, and my good-hearted, wonderful husband is gone.

As far as Captain, I would have a very difficult time not taking an ax to the person who beat him, taking him a part one piece at a time, making him suffer every inch of the way. Anyone who tortures an innocent animal or child, in my mind, is among the lowest of the lowest.

  15. It is sad to lose someone we know.

I saw that awful story about the dog that was found beat up and left to die in the dumpster. I wholeheartedly agree with your idea of punishment.

  16. Weird, tears here too. The little dog of "the other mother-in-law" had a stroke and died suddenly. A friend of one of the workers here (Gord - I think you met him) stopped on the Coq to stretch his legs and fell of the cliff. He died of his injuries. Sad.

  17. So sorry to hear of your neighbor's passing. So sad for the wife and grown children. Must be a shock to them.

As to the person who did that to Captain - I cannot even speak the words. Just let me at him.

  18. So sorry to hear of the passing of your neighbor!! So sad to lose a good friend and neighbor. Sending our prayers!!
There is NO reason to EVER hurt or injure a pet. This really angers me!! They so trust us and love us unconditionally!! It would not do for me to pass the sentence on this sorry piece of humanity.

  21. So sorry to hear of you neighbors passing. Being an animal lover I find it hard to read about the abuse of dear animals. I can relate tho we rescued a beautifll black lab who was shot in the leg and left tied to a dumpster. Her leg had to be amputated. We named her "hope" and placed her in a wonderful forever home where she thrives today. She is also now a three legged therapy dog.

  23. Yes, life can be short and yesterday's tragic events in Colorado reminded me of how fragile life can be. Hug the ones you love...including man's best friend.
