Kentucky/Alleyne Provincial Park

Fullscreen capture 23-May-2013 220725

We created our own long weekend by each taking a Friday and Monday off as vacation days. Destination Kentucky/Alleyne Provincial Park.

The weather forecast for the Merritt area?..not looking too promising?

Fullscreen capture 23-May-2013 221322

oh well, we aren’t made of sugar so we don’t have to worry about melting?

What’s a bit of rain?  70% chance it won’t rain on Friday and Saturday has a 40% chance of no wet stuff. The odds are not too bad?

We were up at o’dark thirty, not exactly what someone should be doing on their birthday, but so be it!

heading east towards the town of Hope..

fuel stop at the new Flying  J..gas and breakfast, one stop shopping..

..one bathroom stop at the visitor center in Merritt.. IMG_1356 and then about a half hour later we turned left onto Bates Road..

  1. Was that a yellow-bellied marmot? Where did the Kentucky part of the name come from? Guess I'm full of questions tonight. :)

Glad you are getting out so much...

  5. What a great little campground. We were so impressed with the B.C provincial parks when we traveled through the province in 2011. So lovely. Great knitting, too! I do hope you have your Flying J/Pilot RV card. Little perks like free coffee and 2 cents off per gallon of gas.

  9. We used to camp like that when we lived in Chillwack. We had a trailer like yours then so could go just about anywhere with it. I miss the BC national parks. They were always so awesome and wonderful. Jackie would have loved that lake too....

  11. That is a nice Provincial park. If one waits for good weather, one might seldom get out to nice camping spots with great fishing lakes.
