Heading home..

August 4th, 2013

Last day of our summer vacation for this year..

It was a sunny warm one, and work on the ‘farm’ never stops..there are horses to feed..

..and peaches to pick..

Doug and I prepared breakfast for everyone..French Toast and sausages..’fuel’ for the hard workers..

There was a few outside chores that needed doing, post breakfast..

Whilst the men were working, Tucker chased his tennis ball..

..and by lunch time we were hooked up and ready to roll..

Carlie followed behind us..her car loaded down with the extra bags and stuff..

We stopped at the Chevron Station in Princeton for a bathroom break..

..She went ahead of us through the Hope-Princeton Highway and we met up again at the new Flying J in Hope, for fuel and lunch..

We drove through a few cloud bursts but other than that the trip was uneventful..that was until we got just east of Chilliwack..

…one accident scene on the freeway..car flipped over on it’s roof and the driver on an ambulance stretcher..

..by 4:30 we were crossing the Port Mann Bridge..almost home..

..as I write this we are settled into our home routines, once again..Thankful to be home again after  being gone for 17 days..

Stats for this trip..

kilometers travelled 2699 or 1677 miles

the jeep ran for 43 hours

cost for gas $480.00

hotel for one night $82.00

campground costs $ 530.00

Time away from home..priceless..

  3. 17 days is a nice, long vacation. I used to take 2 days around weekends, or a week at a time, but it was never enough. One vacation of 17 days is soooo much better in the long run, I think. Glad you had such a nice time. :)
