our Winter continues...

December 31, 2015-January 24, 2016

This is my first post of 2016..It's a wonder that I still know how to put a post together?
I, of course had no intention of avoiding this task for such a long time, nor do I have any intention of boring you with our 'daily shenanigans' for the past 25 days... I did make use of my Ipad over these past three plus weeks..every night I would make notes on what the temperature was and what transpired through the day..

I just finished reading all the entries..jeez..amazing what one forgets..good thing I wrote it all down..

So where does one begin after this long..
Haynes Point in the winter..picture perfect!!

our friends, Barb and Russ headed south for the balance of the winter..they are basking in the sunshine in Palm Springs ...
..the weather has since improved ...no longer are we dealing with -13..
..the white stuff is but a distant memory..
..the green grass is showing again..and the thermometer is above zero..at least for now..
We did have some technical difficulties this past month, though..as I posted before, our furnace gave us some issues..the 'sail switch' needed replacing and then this past week the 'mother board' gave up..
that was hard 'pill' to swallow..the bank account is slowly recovering..
..also the electrical switch on the hot water tank also decided it would give us some grief too..that was an inexpensive fix at least..
..thank goodness for the local mobile repair guy..we sure hope we don't have to see him again this season..

Now as we are sitting idle..just living our life..being responsible adults..we also have some time to peruse the internet....

Just to name a few 'time suckers'...and time 'suckers' they are..have you ever been 'sucked into You-Tube?...
Watching mindless cat videos and before you know it, it leads you down a path and you have no idea how you got there?

Well, this happens all too often and most times, I can just click exit and be done but one night about a week ago, I got 'pulled into the vortex'...I somehow came upon a RVing couple..new fulltimers....the word 'refreshing' came to mind when I started watching all their videos..they are young and enthusiastic about the adventure of RVing. They use the social media platform to it's full potential.

..Nice to see young people making the full time life work for them too..It's not just for 'retired folk anymore..so if you have some time..show them some 'blogging love' like I know you all can..

  2. I thought it was supposed to be a mild winter in the Osoyoos area? We were there for a few days in November one year and it was chilly then too.

We have that exact same photo of Haynes Point (never knew it had a name) with Ruth, but minus the snow.

  4. Sure glad to hear that you guys are surviving the winter and that it has warmed up a wee bit. With our limited data I can't get sucked in too far.

  5. I used to love walking in pristine snow in wild landscapes. They still look great in your pictures but the the urge to be there is gone:)

I have looked at you tube only for how to videos and some have been very helpful.

  6. Brrr - although I have to admit, I am looking forward to returning to the Okanagan the end of March. Great pictures! This has been our extent of eventfulness for January 2016 so far. https://sites.google.com/site/lgrvforfun/journal-blog/5january2016puertopenascomexico

  7. A very good blurb on your goings on of late. RV owners are no different that home owners. There is always something to fix or to get repaired by outside sources.

  8. Your lovely photos of snowscapes almost makes me want to be there.....almost. Glad that you are having a wonderful winter. Looks very peaceful there. Helen

  9. Furnace troubles would definitely suck pond water in that neck of the woods. Glad you got it fixed and can snuggle up with some movies and popcorn..

  10. Brrr!!! Some of those snowy shots look cold and then you still had furnace issues?! Ugg!! I don't know if it is still reasonable, but in our full time years we had purchased from Good Sam an extended warranty! Saved us thousands with the fridge going out 3 Julys in a row!! I believe it was $895 for 3 years coverage. Helps the wallet tremendously! Happy RVing, Kathy

  11. Looks cold and beautiful like winter is supposed to be. I was a Canadian child and grew up with wonderfully long and cold winters and lots of snow. I now live in Mexico and miss the cold weather. The worst is Christmas. I try and visit every few years in the winter. It brings back so many incredibly wonderful memories.

  12. It looks like it is a chilly one for you guys. I do love when it snows in the winter. I wish it would snow more for us in December, though. It is always best when it snows around Christmas and New Years. It just feels right. Our snow usually comes later and even as late as March and April.
