Wild and wacky?

April 27- May 6, 2017

Life at almost 3800 feet can be challenging at the best of times but then there are those ‘freaky days’..the ones where Mother Nature’s sense of humour is ‘just plain old mean’!

Yes, we woke to snow this morning..will winter ever be over??

001

002003

within a  few hours it was but a distant memory..

004

just a small reminder from this morning’s snowfall..

009

We have a few campers..those ‘die hard’ fishermen..looking for that ever elusive fish…

008

The wood is stacked and ready to sell..

006

The extra firepits are prepped..

005

The water table is still high…

007

The eagles are ‘fishing’..

012027

030028

..and those ‘marmots’ are back for another season…

The campers are slowing starting to arrive..as I write this our second full weekend of being ‘open for business’ is half over..

Our friends, Russ and Barb came for a two day visit..they are on their way back home to Alberta..

It was wonderful to see the ‘three of them again’..and they were even here in time to help celebrate Doug’s birthday!

001002

We had barbecued  hamburgers for  dinner and black forest birthday cake for dessert!

007

..time for them to go again…

008012

..see you all again one day soon!!..

005

Now it’s time  to get back to work..

the birds are busy!!

the sunsets are amazing..

..the cloud formations can be very strange..

026

can you see the ‘face’?

IMG_3540

this one looks like a ‘tornado’?

IMG_3538

..so there you have our ‘wild and wacky’ life?

019

from the  wild and wacky weather to the wild animals..every day is different!!…stay tuned for more from Tunkwa Lake..

  1. Snow in May seems wrong, even if it did melt fast. Seems the weather has been wacky everywhere.

  2. Happy Belated Birthday to Doug!

Don't you just love all the wildlife that surrounds you?! I know that we do. We haven't see any Bald Eagles but last year we saw a Golden Eagle and of course we have our resident Great Horned owl and her little baby just revealed itself the other day. We are happy to watch another one grow and leave the nest but that won't be for a few weeks yet.

I hope the weather warms up more for you and you can really start to enjoy spring and summer because it looks like a lovely location to be.
